What each one captures, who it is for, and the crew each event of a Telugu wedding actually needs.
Almost every couple asks us whether they need candid or traditional photography. The short answer is both, because they are made for different people. Here is the difference, and how much of each every event needs.
Traditional is for your parents
Traditional photo and video record every ritual, every relative and every group photo, plus the full 35 to 40 minute video of each event. It is the complete record, and the one the family will open for years.
Candid is for the two of you
Candid photo and video capture the moments between the rituals, shot naturally and never posed: the laughter, the tears, the glances. It is the material your wedding film is made from.
The crew each event needs
- Engagement. A traditional photographer for the group photos and a candid pair for the evening.
- Pellikoduku or Pellikuthuru. A traditional photographer and a candid photographer.
- Haldi. A candid pair. A haldi is pure movement, turmeric flying and nobody standing still, which is exactly what candid teams are built for.
- Mehendi. A candid photographer. Mehendi is hands, henna and faces, all close-up work.
- The wedding. Five people for six to seven hours: a traditional photographer, two traditional videographers and a candid pair.
- Reception. A traditional photographer, a traditional video and a candid photographer.
Bigger crowds add people: past a thousand guests, the wedding gets one more candid video. Your quotation should list every person at every event, with the reason they are there.
Common questions
- What is the difference between candid and traditional wedding photography?
- Traditional photography records every ritual, relative and group photo in a complete, clear way, mostly for the parents. Candid photography captures natural, unposed moments between the rituals, mostly for the couple and their wedding film.
- Do we need both candid and traditional photography?
- Most Telugu weddings need both. The parents want every ritual and relative recorded, and the couple want the natural moments. At the wedding itself, we always send both.
- How many photographers do we need for a wedding?
- For the wedding day itself, we send five people: a traditional photographer, two traditional videographers and a candid pair. Smaller events such as a mehendi or a haldi need one or two candid photographers.
- Is candid photography better for the haldi?
- Yes. A haldi is all movement, and a candid pair keeps up with it. Traditional coverage can be added if the parents want the ritual recorded from start to end.
- What is traditional wedding videography?
- A traditional video records each event from start to end, usually 35 to 40 minutes, so the family has every ritual and every relative on film. A candid video captures moments for the wedding film instead.
